Why I’m not buying anymore video games!

Hey peeps, hope you’re doing well and life is good. This blog I’ll be talking about something I wanted to get off my chest. And this is basically what I think and more power to you if you disagree. But I have to say this. 

This is a long time coming. I feel like I have to say it. This is what my blogs are going to be about. Me saying my opinions. I know I’ll have naysayers and ppl who disagree with me. But that’s more power to them. But this is how I feel. Better let it out than in. So here we go

Video games these days sucked!!!

Now it’s not to every game out there. There’s still good games now & then. Like God Of War, Spider-Man, etc. But these days it’s pretty piss poor. So many games nowadays is online multiplayers with so much pay to win mechanics that it kills the fun of video games. Like I just hate what video games are becoming. 

Every game nowadays is all live services and grindyness on purpose so you pay more to play the fucking game & it keeps going like a vicious circle. Where’s the joy in that? I don’t get it. Why is it every game these days is basically a bank robber holding a gun to your money, demanding more money. Is that what video games are these days? Makes me sick. 

Whatever happen to buy the game and enjoy it? Sure there’s a small few who still do that. Like God Of War, Spider-Man, Nintendo games and some Indie games. But it’s getting rarer these days. And all the top selling games are these fucking battle royale games that are repetitive in nature but ppl are addicted to it. I played it to see for myself and it’s pretty shit but more power to ppl who do enjoy these games somehow. I’ll take games like God Of War over Fortnite any day. 

I hate it’s all going to this direction. It’s like pro wrestling. I haven’t watched it in years cause I hate it and see the flaws clearly. I used to be until it was doing the wrong things and it was not enjoyable to watch. It was boring, repetitive, mediocre, insulting my intelligence, etc imo it was junk, pure junk. So I stop watching it. I’ve moved on. I enjoy combat sports as replacements like Boxing & MMA. I’m becoming more into watching films & TV now since video games are becoming pretty cunty. Especially the AAA companies like EA, Activision, Bethesda, 2K, WB Games, Ubisoft, etc. All of these companies are basically making these shite online games for money, nothing else. And tbh it is pissing me off. I got this meme here... 

This proves one of my points. Back in the 00’s we had sooo many awesome games coming out left & right. None of them had micro transactions, loot crates, season passes, etc. While the two Battlefront games that EA made had so much of those that it made those games pure shite. And we got so many shite games now. Fallout 76 shite, Battlefield 5 shite, FIFA shite, so on & so on. A lot of them are repetitive and boring to play. And I know ppl love those games cause it’s better with friends. But here’s my point I want to make. If you & friends jump of a cliff and hurt yourself badly, would that be fun cause you’re with friends? If they dare you to drink piss and they do & you all puke ur guts out, would that be fun cause “it’s fun with friends”? No it won’t. Cause you may be on a wheelchair or in jail cause ur stupid to do that. That’s why I hate fail videos. It’s basically everything I hate about ppl. Stupid ppl doing stupid things and it’s famous. Like wtf is going on? How is stupidity winning, while proper good hard working ppl get fuck all. Also there’s a lot of great games that are overlooked or shafted cause they don’t have multiplayer. That breaks my heart. It kinda makes me question ppl’s taste. But more power to ppl. I just don’t get it and I never will. But I’ll be playing my retro games. And collect them. 

Yeah it’s just breaks my fucking heart that video games are becoming this way currently. Greed over gameplay, quantity over quality, pay to win over buy it once & enjoy the experience. What is going on? 

I love video games so I really don’t like where it’s heading. I know I’ll have ppl disagreeing with me and I’m not expecting this blog to be popular or well liked. But this is how I feel about one of my favourite hobbies. But I’m confident that I have more ppl agree with me than the naysayers think. There’s plenty of ppl who are feeling the same as me. Especially in my personal life. A lot of my friends agree it’s becoming more like glorified gambling machines in disguise these days. Well I won’t be buying these games and I’m not even pre ordering anymore. Hell I haven’t pre ordered in ages. No one should especially since their release in a broken, buggy state like Fallout 76. Best to wait it out. And you’ll get games cheaper that way. 

But I’m not in a rush. Sure there’s a few good games coming out but I rather wait it out than buy it now. Especially since games are too expensive these days. I can’t afford it. It’s more cheaper to get a Blu Ray, subscribe to Netflix, etc. 

If I was a PC gamer I would wait for the Stream deals cause you save so much cash it’s unreal. But a lot of games these days aren’t worth playing. Too greedy, unfun and pure rubbish. And I hate ppl are defending this crap. Like this is normal now. I hate this is normal. Back in the day it was normal to get great games left & right. I grew up loving every game coming out. It was great times and I’m sticking to those games. If games these days are just glorified gambling live service multiplayer esports games then keep it. I don’t want it. Like fail videos and most of YouTube these days. You can keep it. More power to you. 

I’ll be right here. Enjoy the PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PS1, Nintendo and single player games. Even a few current games. Like the new Metro game perhaps but it’ll be later rather than sooner. 

I do love it if video games was back to giving us awesome games left & right and we just pay it & enjoy it. 

I’m not a anti multiplayer guy. Yous probably think that by reading this blog but I enjoy multiplayer as an extra feature with friends locally. Hate everything has to be online. Imo it encourages ppl to be lazy and anti social. I rather have a local multiplayer day with mates. Have a few laughs and all that face 2 face. Without phones. Just us playing superb games. Like Goldeneye as an example or Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart. Those were the days. Now I feel like the magic is gone due to laziness and greed. I know I’m coming off as a negative prick but this is how I feel. I don’t like the way video games is heading. So of course I’m saying how I feel cause I love video games. I care. 

I do want it to be better for everyone. Imo right now, this is definitely not the way. Hopefully it will change. Like I said I’m not alone in this opinion of mine so I’m confident that more ppl will see that this is not ok and stop buying it & buy retro games instead. The days when it was awesome all the time. It’s growing. 

I just want good games that I’ll buy & enjoy. Not buy & keep buying, is that too much to ask? 

Anyway I hope you like my blog about my little statement on my views on current video games. As a gamer I have to say what’s in my mind. Get it off my chest and feel like I do. If you disagree, that’s fine. It’s just my opinion. Just take this blog with a grain of salt. Like I said more power to you. 😊

My Love For The Resident Evil franchise (the films don’t count)

Hey peeps hope you are all well. This blog is basically a one I wanted to do for a while. If yous probably don’t know. I’m a big video game fan. Have been since the Super NES days watching my brother play Zelda and Mario. But I didn’t play games growing up. Always outdoors skating or doing sports. Til I reach my teens & at 2000 I started playing games for real. I got myself a PS1 and I remember my first games were Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 and of course Resident Evil. I was hooked on it immediately. I always love horror films and so playing a horror game was like a match made in heaven. The Resident Evil game was Resident Evil 3. I play through it so many times. I was really good on it and the rest is history. Been a hardcore gamer since and I don’t look back.

Now as you see on the title I think the movies don’t count. I don’t want to talk about them since I’ll be dead ranty lol. I really hate the films. So I rather not talk about them. I don’t think their Resident Evil at all. I will say Degeneration, the anime film is really overlooked. I thought that was a decent flick.

Give it a watch. I feel that one was not bad.

But the video games is where is that. And there’s so many Resident Evil games out there:

That’s not all of them but that’s lots. A lot of awesome ones, great ones, ok ones and yeah awful ones too (looking at u Operation Raccoon City). There’s so many. And there’s different, they don’t stay the same. Most change the gameplay and the genre a bit. Not many video game franchise can pull that off well or be successful at it. Look at Star Fox Adventures for example on the GameCube. Ppl remember Star Fox as a Sci Fi shoot em up. But they change everything about it in Adventures, while it was imo an alright game. It didn’t succeed at all. It underperformed. A lot of times changing the format of the game is very risky. And like Star Fox Adventures, they don’t sell well or that good. But there’s Resident Evil that does it well and is very successful at it.

Like this gem for example. This is the proper first one they done where they changed the gameplay and it’s different. But in an awesome way cause it still felt like an Resident Evil game. While they were Resident Evil games that changed their gameplay style before like Survivor & the Outbreak games. Survivor was a on rail shooter and the outbreak games were online co op ones but they weren’t good. They were on rail shooter Resi that came out later in these games:

Which were done way better than Survivor. They were decent games. But as excellent as 4. 4 was so awesome that it influenced other games afterwards. It was awesome. But it was also a sign of mediocre Resi games to come. Cause afterwards Resi lost its ID and it was leaning more towards action. Like Resi 5, 6, Operation Raccoon City & Umbrella Corps. None of them were good like 4. 4 at least still felt like a proper Resident Evil game, it had balance between action & horror. While those ones didn’t. Around that time it wasn’t a good time to be a fan of the franchise. The games were what the films were, over the top action Michael Bay style experience. Is that what Resident Evil is? No it was about horror and survival. Hints created the term Survival Horror. Cause the first games perfected it. They were masterpieces. 5 & 6 weren’t overwhelmingly bad games but weren’t good either. Operation Raccoon City & Umbrella Corps were awful. The only Resident Evil games that were still had good & were proper Resi games was these:

Revelations 1 & 2. Imo underrated games. These were pretty good games but sadly they’ll been hidden gems due the Resi games being mediocre since after 4. So ppl probably thought it was more action Resi games that no one likes. But it’s not, it’s more like proper Resi games if they continue the balance of action & horror that 4 was. But not many ppl played these. It is worth getting. Especially their cheap to get these days. Definitely worth playing. The first ur Chris, Jill again and in the second one you’re Barry, Barry’s daughter & Claire. Among other characters, they are good. Definitely worth a playthrough. But sadly at the time they weren’t popular as they should be & Resi really needed to be saved since the recent games were losing fans, me included and of course the films sucked lol. But luckily we had a rereleases of two awesome games that were on the GameCube originally.

These were brilliant. Especially the remake of the first. Both getting rereleased on the Xbox One & PS4 was a kick that the franchise needed. Both are the Resident Evil of old. The return to the classic fixed angle camera, survival horror we know and love about Resident Evil. Luckily unlike the underrated Revelations games. They sold and ppl love it & introduce newer fans too. Ppl wanted more of this and I was happy that they rerelease these. They were awesome and the remake of the first is a pure masterpiece. The original first is badly outdated so the remake of the first was needed. And they did originally in 2002 I think and it was awesome then, still is now. 0 was also brilliant too. Which was a prequel of the first game. Where you play as Rebecca Chambers & Billy Coen (not related to the filmmakers btw lol) in that one. And you can swap characters in that one & it was done very well. Had a co op feel to it, even though it was single player lol. Still awesome. So both were awesome games and I just love it. But that was a sign of more awesome things to come. Basically it was a comeback & it’s awesome as ever. Next one was a full on horror and it was very awesome:

This is another a change of the gameplay and style. This time is in first person. But it was a success and it was brilliant. If you play this on PS4 you’ll play this on the VR. Which is a recommendation cause it’s an experience that everyone should have. It really is so awesome and it’s scary. Probably the scariest of all the Resident Evil games imo and it was better for it. It’s what us the fans wanted and gotten & some. It is a really great game. Great atmosphere, solid gameplay, story line is good too and it was Resident Evil. It was a solid game that nobody should overlooked.

And yeah it was back to it’s roots & Capcom was listening to us & giving us the goods. Resident Evil was back. But ppl wanted another remake. We already got the first game remade so what next...in a lot of ppl’s opinion the best one:

Resident Evil 2 and those are my copies of both games. Resi 2 is where my journey into playing video games begin. Still have my original that I got in 99. Still holds up. Still a masterpiece but the remake is a masterpiece too.

This part of my blog is my review of the new remake.

So where to begin. Well ppl (myself included) wanted this remake for years. Hell I wanted it after the first remake back on the GameCube. And now after all these years we got it & its imo the best remake ever. Not just in video games but of all time. It kept the feel of Resident Evil 2 but in a different modern way and it works. It really does. It’s Resident Evil 2 but better. Everything about it is a pure masterpiece. The atmosphere, the characters, the graphics, the gameplay, the horror, the replayablity, the unlockables, how there’s no loot boxes/micro transactions, upcoming free updates , etc. I could keep going but yous get the point lol. I don’t want to spoil it for yous. I feel yous all should play it and you will love it, trust me lol. It really is awesome really. Imo this is what they should’ve done after 4. It’s has the same gameplay style of 4 but it’s more a survival horror than a blend of action & horror. No it’s more survival horror like the original Resident Evil 2. It captures the feel of the original but with its own edge to it and it totally works. It maybe GOTY I’m not kidding. I think this is the standard of how to do remakes. It’s a pure joy and I love everything about it. I will reward it a full 5/5. Pure genius.

Hopefully they’ll remake 3 next or Code Veronica. Either one will satisfy me. Or maybe they’ll make Resident Evil 8 who knows but I look forward to whatever it is as long they don’t do anymore action games with the Resident Evil name then I’m happy. But I want a 3 remake. Since that’s my personal favourite one. And Jill is my favourite character. So who knows but I look forward to it. I’ll do my third playthrough of Resident Evil 2 and unlock the extra modes in the meantime.

I love Resident Evil. It had a rough time but you can always comeback. That goes to everyone. We all have a dark period but never give up. You can overcome and make a comeback. Like Resident Evil, it’s back and better than ever before. More good things on the way. I’m sure of it.
